oel Chikapa-Phiri is a renowned film producer and entrepreneur with a career spanning over 30 years, producing influential films across Africa, Europe, and the USA. His impressive portfolio includes FLAME by Ingrid Sinclair, selected for Cannes Film Festival’s Director’s Fortnight in 1996, FOOLS by Ramadan Suleman, ARISTOTLE’S PLOT by Jean Pierre Bekolo, and KINI & ADAMS by Idrissa Ouedraogo, which competed at Cannes in 1997. Other notable productions include Francois Verster’s Emmy-winning A LION’S TRAIL, FORGIVENESS (Locarno, 2004), MONSIEUR N (Berlin, 2003), THE FLYER (Locarno, 2005), CRAZY MONKEY: STRAIGHT OUTTA BENONI (2005), and WAH-WAH (Edinburgh, Opening Night Film, 2005).
In addition to his film work, Joel has played key roles in the industry, co-founding the Zimbabwe International Film Festival Trust and serving as Chairperson of the Sithengi Film and Television Market (2003–2005). Since 2007, he has expanded his business interests into mining, energy, infrastructure, and logistics.
